Who Shot What in Hollywood

Ok, Clever Girls- this is where it gets interesting. So, the wine is poured, you have been So Very Clever to select a movie guaranteed to satisfy his appetite for action- little does he know, you are poised and ready to call out a handgun for what it is. You can guarantee a double-take- minimum. If he starts to argue, stand your ground, but if you are truly Clever- you will have done some research beyond this and know how to prove your point. When you say Sig, and he says Glock- you will be able to point out how linear the trigger guard is on the Glock- not at all like the Sig.

This should be fun- wish I were a fly on the wall. Actually, it's probably a lot more comfortable on the couch with a glass of wine. Move over.

Angelina Jolie as "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" prefers the stylish and enormous Heckler & Koch (H&K) USP Match - German

In "Transporter 2," Frank Martin traded in his Beretta 92FS Inox (short for Inoxidizable- the slide and frame are stainless instead of the traditional black)

Glock 22 figures prominently for Tommy Lee Jones in “U.S. Marshals” - Austrian. This handgun is one of the standard issue weapons for FBI graduates.

Beretta 92FS is Mel Gibson’s main weapon in the “Lethal Weapon” series - Italian. This gun has a popular cinematic presence, Will Smith in “I Am Legend,” Liam Neeson in “Taken” and Matt Damon in “The Bourne Supremacy" and "The Bourne Ultimatum."

James Bond is seldom seen with any other than his Walther PPK (in English, PPK means Criminal Police Pistol) - German

Leonardo DiCaprio preferred this weapon in “The Departed,” and Lucy Lui used it in “Payback.”

Dirty Harry made famous the Smith & Wesson Model 29 magnum revolver - USA even though the gun was not longer being produced at the time. Smith & Wesson fashioned a couple for use in the movies.

Roger Moore, as James Bond, departed from the Walther PPK to brandish this impressive hand gun in “Live and Let Die."

Robert DeNiro wielded the Model 29 in “Taxi Driver.”

Demi Moore in “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” sported twin gold Desert Eagle .50- USA

Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson both used the Mark VII Desert Eagle in “The Marlboro Man.”

Detective James Carter, in “Rush Hour,” and Alice (Milla Jovovich’s character) in “Resident Evil” both showed the Beretta 92FS Inox favor. Frank Martin really showcased this gorgeous two-toned weapon in “The Transporter.”

Sig Sauer P226- Swiss/USA marks another departure from standard James Bond, when Daniel Craig flaunted this classic lined weapon in “Quantum of Solace.”

A popular movie handgun (and my personal favorite), the Sig Sauer P226 was also featured as Jason Stratham’s piece in “Crank,” Denzel Washington’s preference in “Man on Fire” and Will Smith’s in “Bad Boys."

It goes without saying, any correct identification of a gun, in a movie or on TV, will be met with near applause. If he argues, do not challenge, just say, “Oh, you are probably right, looked like the P226 (or the Inox).” He will get the picture you know your weapons and be less inclined to doubt you in the future.

Seriously, would love to see the look on his face when you say, “Wow, I thought James Bond always carried a Walther PPK, did not expect to see him with a Sig.”
